THE BLACK SMOKE IS MAINLY DUE TO POOR MAINTENANCE AND OVERUSE OF VEHICLES… REGULAR SERVICING CAN SOMETIMES BE VIEWED AS AN UNNECESSARY EXPENSE. PERHAPS THE LAWS CAN BE CHANGED SO THAT PUBLIC TRANSIT VEHICLES WHICH DID NOT UNDERGO THEIR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE BE SANCTIONED.
ALSO POOR AIR QUALITY CAN ALSO RESULT DUE TO IDLING VEHICLES STUCK IN TRAFFIC. COULD BUSES BE FITTED WITH IDLE TIME REDUCTION TECHNOLOGIES?
AGREE WITH THE USE OF ELECTRIC AND HYBRID VEHICLES. HOWEVER WE SHOULD ALSO CONSIDER THE NUMBER OF PASSENGERS THEY CAN CARRY. FOR EXAMPLE ALTHOUGH THE SEMI-LOW FLOOR BUSES ARE GREAT AND MORE CONVENIENT ESPECIALLY FOR DISABLED, OLD PEOPLE ,PREGNANT WOMEN OR VERY YOUNG CHILDREN, THEY CANNOT SEAT AS MANY PASSENGERS AS THE OLD BUSES. AND THIS IS PROBLEMATIC AT PEAK TIMES.
I THINK A MORE INTEGRATED APPROACH NEEDS TO BE TAKEN:
    1. OFFER ALTERNATIVE MODES OF TRANSPORT FOR SHORT DISTANCES (SUCH AS BICYCLE HIRES OR IMPROVE PEDESTRIAN ACCESS)
    2. USE SEMI-LOW RISE BUSES AS SHUTTLE BUSES FOR TRAVELS NOT EXCEEDING 5 MILES
    3. HAVE A COACH BUSES FOR LONGER DISTANCES. THE COACHES ONLY STOP AT PRE-DEFINED STATIONS NOT ON ALL BUS-STOPS.
THE BENEFIT: A BETTER TRANSPORT SYSTEM WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO LEAVE THEIR CARS AT HOME, THEREBY REDUCING THE VOLUME OF TRAFFIC AND CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS AN IMPROVED AIR QUALITY.

Black smoke is no problem with our device which could bring down opacity from 8% down to less than 1%. We have installed hundreds of our devices on smoke belching diesel engines. Our technology was tested by our govt with satisfactory results. Pls see: ‘without device and with device videos’ installed at our blogsite. nuvinuvi.blogspot.com thank you. Let’s make our citiy air safe to breathe, esp for our children.

this topic is exactly the same with ‘reduce pollution from exhaust pipes of vehicles’, but with two different authors. i reiterate that readers or car owners whose engines are emitting dangerous fumes read and see our videos. (without/with devices). thank you
