Description: Everyday in Mauritius, tons of food are cooked, processed and put in for sales in shops, restaurants and hotels. Unfortunately, a lot of unsold or food not sold are being thrown away. The same can be said to unsold vegetables in Market Fairs. This is an alarming situation considering that Mauritius is a net food importing country and a considerable amount of food is being thrown daily.

    Potential Solutions (if any):
Creation of a food recycling network to channel excess food produced to needy perople or to government institutions such as the prison services or shelters.

Benefits: This will help reduce food wastage in Mauritius by providing a solution to food producers which will have socio-economic benefits.
