Most of our government primary schools look like they have never had much maintenance for the past 20 years. We have modern offices now which get renovated to suit the working environment. Why have our schools been left behind? Do our children not require a learning environment that is modern and suited to the level of development Mauritius claims to have? You wouldn’t go into the toilet at work if they resembled what we have in a government school.
To kick start a better quality of education, we should start off by bringing our schools into the 21st century. This would then support the development of new teaching methods and the ability to include extracurricular activities into schools.
It’s a simple idea that is easy to execute with appropriate funding.
