    Description:
According to MES statistics very few students are taking history and geography at SC and HSC. How can a nation how has just celebrated 50 years of independence and yet very few students are studying two important subjects mentioned above. how can we promote sustainable development and nation building withou these two subjects?
Mauritius is a small country but being multi ethnic and multicultural is an asset. However, without an understanding of each other religious beliefs, tolerance, it can be very difficult to maintain peace and harmony. A subject like Mauritian studies can provide the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to live in peace and harmony. It can also equip citizens to be active, responsible and engaged citizens.
The proposed subject am proposing will consist of components like history ,geography, sociology, human rights, government & politics.. The MGI is already offering this course at undergraduate level. More more expatriates are working in Mauritius and the would be happy to learn the Maufiian Studies.
